Many of you have been asking if we’d post pictures of Elane’s makeover from our last subscriber giveaway, and today is the day! Elane was such a great sport about everything. We took her shopping, and Melessa cut her hair, did her makeup, and shot some fantastic photos. Elane has always been beautiful, but it was so fun to play and learn some different makeup and style tips from Melessa (and have some really great girl time)!
We asked Elane to write some of her thoughts on her transformation, and she delegated the task to her wonderfully talented 16-year-old daughter, Hannah, who wrote a rap for us!
OOOOOO Dang! *snaps fingers in Z formation* I was feeling struttalicious*, positively delicious, and also, you know, slightly terrified…
“What have I gotten myself into?” this phrase repeated itself over and over, especially when the scissors started snipping, when the camera clicked, when clothing came on, when makeup was applied…when I was transformed.
Makeovers, a simple idea and all the more revealing and uncovering because of it. In order to be “reinvented” layers need to be taken off (clothing/makeup), barriers need to be cracked (self image/personal views on one’s body); that part of the process was difficult. It’s hard to be confident when clothing won’t fit, when your long blonde hair is cut. However, even Cinderella didn’t get her gown until her previous layers were torn.
I’m incredibly thankful for this experience, it was wonderfully building and empowering to have a chance to change for the better in a positive way. I never could have undergone something like this on my own.
I learned so much, and now my youngest daughter (16) is asking me to help her vamp her style. At this point in time I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and thankfulness for Melessa and Laura’s help. They were incredibly kind and supportive, and having them there made the whole experience a blast.
*Definition of struttalicious (strutt-ah-lish-us): to ooze confidence, sassiness and sexiness, preferably while strutting about in a new outfit. (Word invented by Hannah Teasdale.)
And here’s Elane after!
