My youngest son (Gabe) asked me, “Mom, are there a lot more bad people than good people today?”I said, “You know what? I think there are still a lot of good people that are trying their best every day. There will always be a few bad apples that make it difficult, but for the most part, most people are good.”
This is in light of another terrible and most unfortunate event where innocent people were killed in Texas this past Sunday. My heart goes out to their families and friends.
As our prayers and thoughts turn to those that have been affected by horrible events, I hope our perspectives can shift. I hope we come away from this with a stronger desire to be more patient with one another. I hope we have a desire to not be offended so easily and try harder to forgive more quickly. I hope we have a desire to be more self-aware and have more empathy for one another. I hope we desire and pray to have more charity in our hearts. For charity is the true definition of pure love which can conquer all!

Holidays come and go. I know it seems easier to feel the sweet spirit of serving during this time of year. I hope we can choose to continue to keep that spirit of service throughout our lives regardless of the season.
Maya Angelou said it beautifully, “My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness.”
