Are you ready?!? Because it’s BEFORE & AFTER TIME for Jessica’s living room! I’m getting giddy just thinking about it!
When you walk into the house, the living room is right up the stairs, so you can pretty much see parts of it from the front door, and, in our humble opinion, it’s pretty darn cute! This room needed to feel bright and airy. The light is beautiful during the day. It flows so well through the room.
Everything she previously had in that room was going to go. We were starting from scratch. The major thing that needed to happen here was creating a space that connected all the elements together for warm conversations. This room was not really a challenge, honestly, all I had to do was find fresh, new furniture, fun lighting and decorate this baby.
Here’s the Before…

When a client comes to me and say’s “Go for it! Do what you want!”, my eye’s light up and I’m like a kid on Christmas morning squealing because I got the perfect gift! There was a budget, but still, it’s a designer’s dream to hear those words.
We went through a bunch of images together to determine Jessica’s favorite style. I found that she gravitated towards, modern, clean and neutral with some color play. She also has two little ones at home, so we needed a look that also combined some storage for the kiddo’s toys.
Here’s what I planned.

The process of designing this living room was a blast, for sure. Since Jessica was such an open client, I had a lot of creative freedom. Her budget was tight, but not impossible ($2,500) for the entire room. And the best part? Taking her shopping with me for some fun accessories! To keep us within the budget, we hit Hobby Lobby and Home Goods.
Shopping time!

Oh yes! There were two carts!

Okay, can I just confess, I stink at taking selfies! Not my best photo. Oh, well! Jessica, you look great, by the way! My head looks HUGE!

I did it! And it’s time to finally reveal this baby! Hey! If you like this look, don’t fret! I’ve got all the major pieces all ready for you to purchase, so you too can get the look!
So… are you ready?? Let’s go!
After…

I could stare at this room all day long. I just love it so very, very much. Not bad for an ENTIRE ROOM MAKEOVER for $2,500!!! I mean seriously, for everything!

I wanted more seating for her in this space. She loves to host, and she has family near by, so the room needed to be functional for family and friends.

What makes this room fun are the two styles of couches. I wanted things to coordinate, but not all things have to match perfectly. The leather couch is just plain sexy, but also functional and easy to keep clean. I’m all about easy wipeable surfaces. The love seat is just darling, with the perfect complimentary gray shade against the leather sofa. Not to mention it’s stunning silver chrome legs.

She had a big wall that needed to be filled properly, but not be too heavy. Instead of placing a couch there, with art above (like it was before), I decided to add two light book shelves in front. I kept the decor simple and not to cluttered, so each piece has a presence.

She did have these items below, that couldn’t be more perfect. The agates are stunning.

Hey, did you notice she’s got one of my Sweet Reminders?! See how cute they can look in your home. 😉

For toy storage I found two large baskets that fit perfectly under the console table. When it comes to kids putting away toys, it should be fairly simple for them to put away with easy access. The deeper the better, so the toys aren’t spilling over.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m going to mention it again. I cannot express to you how important area rugs are. They are what pulls everything together. They help define the space and make it look finished. If you don’t have one, you NEED one, trust me! If you don’t know where to start, I can help!

Plants are another important element in this space that make this room feel alive, warm and finished. Whether they are faux or real, they are needed! Because she has small kids, I went with faux plants. No parent needs to deal with little paws digging into dirt or eating potentially poisonous leaves. Good heavens, no!

There is very, very little I would change about this room. Honestly, perhaps only one thing would be how the pillows are arranged on the couch, but that’s and easy quick fix. Again, this room was pulled together on an awesome budget, so I’m not going to complain too much. I think it looks fab!

So, without further ado, GET THE LOOK is in order. And don’t worry! Most of these items are still in stock!
