Here’s a fun DIY you could try with some of my Sweet Reminders.
I had some fake pumpkins laying around in my basement and I thought, “What could I do with these? I wonder if some of my Sweet Reminders could work as pumpkin decor…”
I thought so and I absolutely went for it.
For this DIY I’m showing you how to use the SOMETHING WICKED Sweet Reminder, but there are other ones you could use as well. For example, I think the GRATITUDE Sweet Reminder would also look beautiful on a pumpkin.
Here’s what you need for this project:
- X-Acto Blade (to cut through the fake pumpkin)
- Fake Pumpkin
- Spray Paint (any colors you love)
- Spray Adhesive
- Acrylic Paint
- Glitter (optional)
- Tealight (flameless LED)
- Sweet Reminder
1) Spray your fake pumpkin whatever color you desire or keep it natural. You decide. I went with gold.

2) After the pumpkin is dry, place the Sweet Reminder on top. Trace around it to mark where to cut the hole.

3) Cut out the hole. It doesn’t have to be a perfect cut, just good enough for the Sweet Reminder to fit over it.

Please note: You can also spray paint the pumpkin after the hole is cut. With this method the edges of the cut are painted.

4) Now you’re ready to paint the inside of the pumpkin. Again, you can do any color you want. I wanted to put a LED light inside, so I wanted it to be extra shiny with glitter.

For glitter… paint the inside and let it fully dry. Spray the inside with Spray Adhesive, wait 30 seconds to let the spray get tacky, then shake glitter inside while rotating it so it covers the entire inside. You’ll want to do this part over a sink or garbage so glitter doesn’t sprinkle everywhere.

5) After the spray dries (about 5-10 min) place your Tealight (flameless LED) inside.
6) If you want, you can spray your Sweet Reminder a different color. I went with gold to match the outer pumpkin.
7) Attach the Sweet Reminder. I only glued the top middle section of the Sweet Reminder to the pumpkin with hot glue. I did that so I could carefully lift the bottom to adjust and use the Tealight.
That’s it!
If you really want to go all out, you could also paint and glitter the stem for extra glam.

I think it turned out fun, don’t you?
XOXO

October 12, 2018 at 10:02 amI bet the effect of light bouncing off all of the glitter in that pumpkin from a small light would be pretty amazing on a dark Halloween night.
