Yellow tones are making a big comeback in the decor world and you’ll see more in 2020. Learn how to make this peppy hue a neutral or a bold statement.
Have you guys seen the movie Wonder? I love that movie and so did my boys! Do you remember that beautiful living room in that drool worthy Brownstone. Oh!, I just went crazy over the set design and that YELLOW couch. I could live on that set, no problem!
Note that it doesn’t stand out like you think it would. I’ll explain why.

Are you intimidated by yellow? Yellow doesn’t need to feel like a bold pop unless you want to. There are ways to tone it down. It can be treated as a neutral and just simply create warmth in the room. When you pair yellow with natural finishes it acts like another wood tone and very easily rests in the neutral world. A perfect example is in this lovely kitchen below.
It doesn’t need to irritate the eyes. On the flip side, it draws you in and makes you want to snuggle up. I’m a sucker for those statement buttery pleated English arms and turned legs on the vintage couches below. LOVE!
Depending on your yellow and what it’s paired with, cooler or bold contrasting hues can shift it very dramatically.
In today’s world, designers are always pushing new unexpected colors combos together. We love it and can’t get enough of it. Check out new ways to use yellow.
Which direction would you go with yellow in your home? More bold or neutral?
