Happy Friday, everyone! Ready for a nice relaxing weekend or are you ready to hit a home project? Since I’ve been chatting a lot about color, and showing you photos of how to be funky with color accents, it was time to apply some of that into my own home.
It takes a lot of self control for me not to just dive in and go bananas in my house! So, to spare everyone in my family, I plan my next moves by taking photos of the problem areas and Photoshopping them. I thought it would be fun to see what you all think. So, now I pass it over to you.
My living area is still a work in progress. First, I’m brightening up my walls because I’m tired of taupe. It feels blah… I’ve been meaning to paint it for a while.
Before with tan walls…
I’m thinking about a white with a tiny smidgen of sand tones (but really more white than you see in the photo below). You get the idea.
After (photoshopped in a cotton white)
Ok! So, I need to do something to my back door area. Let’s discuss back door colors and decor accents. I’m thinking about a soft, misty slate blue tone. Or, do I just keep it white with a plant to accent the area for color? For fun, how about just throwing in a soft pink or a light chartreuse door. Why not?! It’s only Photoshop. Plus, it’s fun to think outside the box, too!

Maybe that pot could go gold too…

My house is all open on the main floor so you’ll see this door when you enter my home. Below is another perspective of this area with the different door color options.

Hmmm… I’m also thinking about spraying the picture frame holding the charcoal art a metallic gold or silver… depending on what happens to the door… I’m leaning towards gold…

I know it totally looks blue in this corner, but I do have way more warm tones in the room, you just can’t see them. I’ll be sure to do a living room reveal soon!
If it helps, here’s a look on the other side of the room showing you an example of the many little pops of colors I have going on.

Yikes! I really need to polish that fire extinguisher! How embarrassing! 🙂
I numbered each one so let me know which combo you think would work best! I’m excited to hear what you all have to say!
XOXO

March 31, 2017 at 7:36 amMy vote is the pink door, it’s soft and feminine with out being obnoxious. I’m not sure about the plant and I think you would love adding gold in some form.

March 31, 2017 at 6:48 pmMelessa, I really like what you’ve done with this room. It’s way more modern than any room in my house, so not my personal style, and yet I *really* like it and would feel very comfortable in it! I vote for #5. I think the colored doors and the two lighter colored pots detract from the big art piece and that whole cool thing you’ve got going in that corner. Metallic gold on the charcoal art frame would definitely give that piece more weight. Beautiful room!
