If you don’t want to invest in wallpaper or deal with the sticky mess of putting it up, I have an idea to share with you for a child’s room…

My older son loves maps, geography and flags, so it was only appropriate to include that look into his tween room. Of course, there was the option of doing a mural or buying something large and expensive for his wide back wall. However, I realized that we had two old Road Atlases in our car, I took apart one and decided to use it as wall paper.

There is no secret to putting it up. I used scotch tape to attach them to each other and taped them to the wall. Super easy. Yes, it takes about 3 hours, but so does putting up wall paper if you haven’t done it before.

Sam loves it and I love the pattern and texture it adds to the room.

To top it off I had to add the American flag as a beautiful bold statement over his bed that represents how all these maps are connected.

You don’t have to use maps! This would work with pages from your favorite children’s’ book, quotes, images of your favorite artist, etc.
Most of all be creative and have fun.
Have a wonderful weekend!
XOXO

August 24, 2017 at 3:13 pmVery cool, and frugal! For my son’s room I got a huge pack of silver vinyl stars in varying sizes and alllied them all over one wall, and to be extra nerdy I hid the constellations that correspond to our astrological signs, within the field of stars. My dog is named after a star too, so his constellation is up there too! I love this idea of a wall/backdrop that has some personal meaning. Great job!

September 7, 2017 at 9:43 pmThis is one of my all-time favorites! My husband loves maps too so I can see this happening in multiple spaces. First, though, I want to cover my whole camping trailer in maps!!!
