Need a creative, yet simple idea for Valentine’s Day? Here’s a tender way to express your love to the sweethearts in your life.
Nothing says “I love you” like a handmade gift. Don’t get nervous if you’re not a crafty person. It’s not bad at all. In fact you can do this in felt or paper. I’ve even designed some cute stationary you can print and write on. Plus a cute tag. See not too bad so far right?
Everybody loves getting letters. How often do we find the time to express our feelings to the people we love or at least give them a heart felt reminder? It doesn’t matter how old you are. This is a festive way to share a beautiful message with someone. I made three! One for my hubby, and one each for my two boys. The best part, they can save these loving letters for ever and ever. At least I hope they do!
Here’s what you need:
- Fun festive cardstock paper or felt in any of the Valentine colors
- Scissors
- Thread
- Ribbon or twine
- Sewing needle or sewing machine or glue (whichever way is easiest for you)
- Print out my free tag and stationary if you wish
- Fun pen to write your note with
- Maybe a cute sticker or two to seal the note with
- Delicious little sweet to add to the heart pocket – Another fun way to warm the heart of filling their tummy with something yummy! 😉
I’ll be using felt so I can keep reusing these little Sweet Heart Notes each year.
Step 1) Download my heart template and cut out the heart and pocket shape.

Step 2) Sew or glue pocket, ribbon and heart together. If you want a pillow with a pocket (that’s what I’m doing), sew or glue the edges of all three together.

Step 3) Stuff the heart with stuffing or with old cloth (if you’re using felt).

Step 4) Print out free tag and stationary and write something sweet!

Step 5) Fill the back pocket with your note and a treat and hang it where you want them to find it. I’ll be hanging mine on their bedroom doors in the morning.
Back of Heart
Front of Heart
That’s it!
Have a wonderful Valentines Day!
XOXO
