Guessing what’s coming next for 2020? I’ve got the inside scoop, plus my favorite new products I saw in Chicago at the Inspired Home Show.
The Inspired Home Show is one of largest trade shows in the world. It takes place every March in Chicago. Vendors, Wholesalers, Buyers and Designers from all over come to discuss and see next years products, plus future products for your home and kitchen. The products and stunning designs are endless and I walked the whole thing!
By the time I’m done walking the show my feet are crying and my brain is as mushy as oatmeal. But, the learning and seeing are totally worth it! LOVE IT!
Here are a handful of my favorite kitchen products from the show and a link to buy them!
SoYoung Lunch Pouches (Adult Lunch) have simple chic designs on linen/cotton exterior fabric with removable insulated interior. What I love most about this product is that the founder of this company came from a rough life of hard drug addiction. She had to fight through her doubts, fears of unworthiness and begin to transform her thinking and overcome her additions. “SoYoung exists as a testament to the empowerment of taking action despite fear while our products serve as vehicles of productivity and transformation. It is my deepest hope that our products serve to empower others to overcome their own limiting beliefs and access the courage necessary to pursue their own best life.” – Catherine Choi, Founder, SoYoung

Silikomart takes baking desserts to a whole new level. Pure eye candy! These decadent silicone molds upgrade your homemade baked goods to a masterpiece level. When I saw them in person, my eyes couldn’t get enough of how stunning their presentation was. These products are 100% made in Italy and finally available for us to buy and use. I LOVE them! I saw their 2020 products (not for retail yet) and I promise these won’t disappoint!![]()

Herringbone Cutting Board’s, by Architec are stunning and functional. If I could have gotten my hands on one sooner it would have been in my kitchen reveal post. The multi toned wood and patterning give is so much character and depth. It’s a beautiful board that makes prep work way more interesting to look at.

Fragrance Diffuser by Alessi is a show stopper, too. This product spares no expense. Made out of porcelain and mahogany wood leaves, the “Ahhh” (Spring) scent has a delicate freshness of a mystical garden, with notes of cardamom, hyacinth and vetiver. I mean come on! There are a hand full of designs to choose from with different scents. Trust me, it’s even cooler in person, plus the smell is totally relaxing.

Food Flask by Black & Blum is a clean simple way to pack food. I’m a sucker for smart nesting products that are easy to pack, clean and store away. I think the design is genius. I wish I did it! Not to mention the color and mixed materials give it a sophisticated natural look. It’s the perfect size too!
Steam Waverz are a darling little niche product that made me smile the first time I saw it. It really serves no function, but the detail in art and how it’s animated against the steam is really a treat to experience while drinking a warm beverage. I think they’re perfect for entertaining and a great conversation starter! This is another product I wish I come up with. So clever!
Sagaform is a brand you should look for around the holidays. They have some really beautiful entertaining dish-ware. I’m personally a fan of their mug designs. The quality material, pops of color and metallic finish are sure to make an impression.

Smeg products are designs I drool over! I’m saving the best to last. Oh my goodness! I LOVE THEM! How can you not?!? If you aren’t familiar with this name, let me introduce you now. They nailed it on every level of creativity, innovation, and sleek collectible design that will always serve as a timeless look that you’ll always appreciate.

Now for a little peak into 2020… this is just one category…
Thanks to Marie Kondo, the joy of clean and tidy is on the rise. People are ready to feel more peace and organization in their homes. Products not only will be more functional in your home but also, multi-purpose and attractive. The consumer is ready to have a deep connection with their home and belongings. It’s not just a home, it’s your spiritual sanctuary. Items are meant to feel more meaningful rather than, just a pretty object. People will be encouraging others to slow down and be more present and feel more gratitude. Imperfect will feel perfect and be celebrated.

Mistakes can lead us in directions that we weren’t expecting as evident in the trends above. Doesn’t 2020 sound restful and amazing?!? Well, you don’t have to wait for it, get started now with a more open, relaxed mind. I love getting little glimpses into the future. Product design is always evolving more and more. The secret is all about having a growth mindset. As we accept our mistakes, we learn and evolve from them. This is how product design evolves. We designers are always starting over, reworking concepts, stretching our minds beyond our comfort level and finally after much exertion (and trial and error), your product emerges. The light of inspiration is always pouring through even when you don’t think it is. Each step takes us on a new unexpected journey.
XOXO
Melessa
