The fun never stops at the Paynter house! 😉 I’ve started working on my plans for the basement. I’ve got a ways to go on all the details, but check out my custom storage cabinets I’ve got cooking for my basement.

When Nate and I bought our house, I loved 90% of it. The 10% that was lacking, was storage. We NEED good functional storage in this house. I’m so over having things stacked on top of each other. That’s why I’ve been building built-ins, adding lockers to my laundry room and yes, I’m going to build yet another juicy built-in for my basement. This one is going to hold big bulky storage bins, so putting things away will feel fast and really easy.
Here are cabinet’s I found online that inspired me for my design.

Here are my basement plans so far. I’m still at the beginning. Right now I’m focused on how the electrical and HVAC are being laid out in the rooms. When you’re doing huge built-ins, accent walls, etc., you need to plan them first so that your electrical and HVAC can work around those designs.

I just finished my storage cabinet design and I am so eager to have it hold all my stuff. I can’t wait! I love how deep the design will be. No more four large bins stacked on top of each other. It’s a great size, plus a nice seating area next to the pool table where folks can take a seat as their watching the game or waiting their turn. So far so good!

What storage solutions do you have in your house?

March 12, 2019 at 8:14 amHaving a bench in between is nice because it breaks up the tall cabinets. When you have a really long wall, if you fill it only with tall cabinets it starts to feel more utility and less decor like. The bench brings a nice approachable cozy feel to it. Thanks for commenting! Good luck with your builtins!
