I’ve totally got a “princess and the pea” situation going on when it comes to being comfortable in bed. I feel every little bump, and the bed can’t be too hard or too soft. I need to be comfortable or I just won’t be able to sleep, even if I’m super tired. My body is like, “No way, Jose! This bed is too uncomfortable. These sheets are too hot and scratchy. No sleep for you tonight, girlfriend!”
I work some crazy-long hours at times, so when I’m ready to hit the sack, I want it to feel like the heavens opened and blessed me with an angelic good night’s rest in sheer, blissful comfort. Are you with me on the comfort thing?
The search for comfy sheets can feel like searching for the perfect pair of jeans. It can take a while! Not only that, if you’re sharing a bed with someone they might have their own opinion. So, you both need to find the right level of comfort.
For Nate and me, we must go with cool breathable, light sheets. Nate likes everything cool, especially at night. I too need things cool, because when I sleep I am a furnace on fire. I’m obviously burning lots calories when I sleep because when I wake up I’m super-duper sweaty and hot.
Percale Sheets or Wicking Sheets for the HOT sleeper

So, if you’re a “hot sleeper” like me and you find your little footsies sticking out from under the sheets at night to cool off, then you should consider trying Percale Sheets. These sheets are very breathable, cool and crisp (like high-end hotel sheets). It’s because of how the cotton is woven together in a one-over, one-under weave that allows more air to flow through. Or try Wicking Sheets. Cooler and more breathable than traditional cotton: Coolex fabric transfer body heat 2x more effectively and breathes 50% more than cotton to keep you cool all the night.
Sateen Sheets for the COLD sleeper

For those of you that are “cold sleepers” you’ll want to try Sateen Sheets. Unlike the open percale weave, the sateen weave is tighter with a softer feel, plus it’s more wrinkle resistant. I have a pair of these sheets. They are awesomely soft, but for me, they don’t breathe well and I get too hot.
Flannel Sheets for the “REALLY COLD sleeper”

Then there’s the folks that are always cold and need an extra layer or two at night. For your cold tootsies I recommend Flannel Sheets. This is perfect for your cold feet. It’s soft and cozy, plus the extra weight is very restful for you cold blooded animals.
It’s funny, I hate being tucked in. I want my body to feel free. Even my ankles don’t like weight on them. It makes me feel tied up and restricted. My boys on the other hand love heavy blankets adding weight. Each night they ask to be tucked in like caterpillars, all nice and snug.
Everyone sleeps differently. Thank heavens there are so many options now. It’s so important to get a restful night sleep. Your mind works so much better, plus when your body goes into R.E.M. sleep your metabolism goes into overdrive and you burn calories while you sleep (and lose weight). How cool is that?!? They don’t call it “beauty sleep” for nothing!
So, if you’ve been having trouble with finding the right sheets, take some time to figure out if you’re a hot or cold sleeper. It’s okay if you must try a couple of brands before you find the right one. Thank heavens, we have lots and lots of options. Plus if it doesn’t work you can always return it and try again.
Do you have sheets you absolutely love? If yes, tell me what kind of sleeper you are and where you got your sheets. Our readers would love to know!
XOXO

February 19, 2019 at 3:09 pmSheex! I LOVE them! I especially love their pillowcases! They have several different styles. I have their Performance line. I have never liked top sheets, so I use their fitted sheet and pillowcase. (There’s also stitching on their top sheets that’s a bit unconventional, so I’m not sure I’d like them even if I did use a top sheet?) As for the fabric, it’s sheer bliss. I have a hard time sleeping anywhere else because I love my mattress and sheets/blankets. The good news? I can pack my pillow and Sheex extra pillowcases whenever I travel!
