A lot is happening around the Paynter house. The basement is moving along well. My main floor and garage are filling up with boxes; I’ve got pendant lights, flush mount lights, hardware for the bathroom, a really cute vanity, and even a new toilet.
So far my framing and HVAC are up. The plumber comes this weekend for the rough-in, then the electrical rough-in will be done next week. After that, we have the inspection and then the real fun begins.
There will be some DIY’s happening for this space. The first one is with my bathroom vanity. The original idea was to find a beautiful old wood dresser and convert it. However, after figuring out the costs to install a countertop and sink into an old dresser, I quickly changed gears and decided to go with another option.
First of all, vanities can be very expensive. And of course, leave it to me to fall in love with the most expensive options. Figures! I needed to rethink in my approach. I needed something that could give me the details I wanted but still stay within a budget.

So, I found this little cutie! Isn’t she darling?! Those legs! Love ’em! Her name is Gemma, because the plans I have for this gem’s transformation will make her a knock-out. 😉 I’m so excited! With a little paint and some new hardware, she’ll look even better. FYI: I love to personify and name products when I get excited about them. I know. I’m a nerd.
I already talked about my built-in project. I’m thrilled to finally have a nice storage space for all my holiday, camping, and other miscellaneous stuff. Honestly, I think that’s what I most excited about. Feeling organized and having a place for everything. Yay! Don’t you guys get excited about good storage, too?

Here’s the couch I ordered for the TV area. I wanted a clean transitional look with a classic fabric that could go with any color scheme I wanted. It’s also kid friendly, which is a plus. I’m all about functional guest room space so this couch also stores a hide-a-bed for visitors to sleep on. I’m not a fan of sleeping on couches or floors… When we have company come to stay with us I want them to have a comfortable bed to sleep on. The double perk to this couch is the fact that the cushions stay on when you pull out the bed. No more trying to find a space to put the cushions. They fold right under. LOVE that!

Shop this couch.
The other fun item I have is this lovely old mirror that belonged to my great grandmother. I love mixing old and new, especially items that have been passed down through generations. So, of course, I can’t have that just tucked away collecting dust. I have plans to tinker with this piece, too. Not exactly sure which way I’ll go yet, but for sure she fits well in the space and will work perfectly. You can see how I’m using it in the image with the vanity.

There’s more to share so stay tuned!
So, what are your thoughts on my vanity transformation? How do you feel about hide-a-beds? If you have a thought or an idea, please comment below. I love to hear from you!
