It doesn’t quite feel right to post anything decor-ish so this blog post will be mute of design content this week. It’s been a heavy couple of weeks, a long three months with kids and the last thing I want to do is re-post more memes and quotes.
On top of all the extremely sad events happening all over, my grandmother passed away last week. Honestly, because we lived so far apart, I didn’t share the same tight relationship that my cousins had with her. But I very much appreciated the love we had for each other. She lived a long and very healthy life. She served as a nurse in WWII. After the war, she purchased and managed a small dairy farm with her husband while continuing to work as a nurse. She was a go-getter, mother of 4, an extremely hard worker and she never stopped for one second (I think I may have inherited a bit of that). I’m grateful to be a part of her family and am most grateful to know I will be able to see her again.
Since I started this blog, I have had the privilege of meeting fabulous people around the Twin Cities that have shared their remarkable stories and truth. My eyes were opened and my heart and love for people grew even stronger. There is a lot of learning still to be done. We need to listen more, set what we think we know aside, unlearn a few things and research and evolve to what’s happening around us. There is so much more room for all of us to be better role models and stand up for what is just. We begin with ourselves, then teach in our homes. This is a fight we all need to fight.
I hope you all are safe and healthy.
XO
Melessa
