10 Cleaning Products I Love

Since we are being held hostage by old man winter in our homes this week due to the cray-cray cold weather (we’re looking at a HIGH of -35 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday), let’s talk about cleaning. I’m going to be brutally honest with you… I hate cleaning! But, I REALLY love a clean and organized home!! I love it when everything has a place and it’s easy to tidy up and put things away. So, over the past few years, I’ve gone out of my way to figure out the best tools that make cleaning the most effortless for me. Oh no ladies… I don’t hire anyone to clean my home. Nate, my two boys and myself are the cleaners of our home. We all work together. Through trial and error, here are my family’s top favorite tools that keep our home in pretty dang good condition. And there are a couple of new products I really want to try, that have good reviews.

1) Bissell Spot Cleaner

Bissell Spot Cleaner
I’m super obsessed with this product! It works SO well. That’s why I’m starting with this beauty! My kids have spilled soda and have had candy stuck to my couch before.  It’s removed slime, stuck candy chunks and cola stains from my couch (that my son tried to hide for a couple of days by covering it up with some throw pillows – ARGH!!!). I was also able to get berry stains out of my rug, and clean up a disastrous throw-up stain from one of those episodes at 2:30 am when my kid didn’t quite make it to the bathroom.  Sound familiar to anyone? This spot cleaner has worked miracles and really deep cleans like a pro. I swear by this product and have been always happy with the results. If you don’t have one, you need to get one now!

2) Dyson Cordless Vacuum

I own a Dyson and I LOVE it! Anything that’s easy to clean and easy for kids to use is a super big win in my book. The Dyson Cordless Vacuums are very lightweight and easy to lift for those obnoxious cob webs in the corners, not to mention, easy to get at the build up in the air vents that are tough to reach.

3) Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

This guy has been around forever. You know why? Because he works! This gets the yucky buildup off your cookie sheets, pans and stainless steel sink without hurting the finish. My kids have used crayons and markers on my furniture and guess what, Mr Clean Magic Eraser saved the day and got them out. Be sure to always test it on a small section of a new surface before really going to town scrubbing it out.

5) Japanese cross back linen apron

I LOVE these aprons! So pretty! I don’t have one, but I will very soon. This design covers everything without damaging your clothing underneath. Plus so comfy. Why not look classy and feel comfortable when you’re cleaning?!

6) Swiffer Sweeper Dry + Wet Sweeping Kit

Sweeper_hero_01
This keeps my floors looking good! Very simple to use (much easier than a traditional mop). The best part is you can attach anything to it. I attach old reusable rags on the sweeper head so I don’t have that guilty wasteful feeling. It’s fabulous and very easy for my kids to use, too.

7) Plant Dusting Spray

We tend to neglect the lovely plants in our homes, so it’s an important task to keep our plants looking healthy and happy. This spray keeps those leaves looking well manicured while not causing harm to the leaves. The unique formula keeps the leaves clean and dust-free.

9) Microfiber Cleaning Cloth

Dusting might be the part of cleaning that I hate the most, but this little cloth does the job for me. The Norwex EnviroCloth is a microfiber cloth that cleans a variety of surfaces. Just clean it with water, let it dry and reuse. It’s deep cleaning and green cleaning.

10) Caldrea’s Countertop Spray

Okay, if you haven’t used this product before, try it! This surface cleaner uses a vegetable protein extract to quickly remove odors. Safe, hardworking and effective on all non-porous surfaces including natural stone. Long story short: the smell is wonderful! I use it on my countertops so the lovely perfume-like smell spreads throughout my home. It smells so fantastic, I’ve almost wanted to spray it on myself! It’s really a treat for your nose!

Stay warm everyone!
