Whewww! I am getting closer and closer to finishing this beast of a basement. Here’s a peak at what’s new.
Nate and I made some big headway last week. We powered through, working as hard as we could. I painted the stair railings and hardware, then we installed them. I kept the railing clean and modern next to the classic white accent wall.
I still need to stain and paint the stairs and then install the runner.

As I mentioned before, basements are never level so we had to “eyeball” a lot for things to look balanced. Fun, fun! I’m glad to say, I am pleased with how things are turning out. We finished the accent wall, along with priming, caulking, sanding and painting it!

Yes, I went with a different fabric for the bench cushion. The previous fabric was lovely, but it had more linen in the material and I decided to go with a heavier more durable option.
I put in my order and my custom bench cushion will be completed in 3-4 weeks. So excited! 🙂

The drapes are up in the game room / work-out room / guest room and now I’m starting on the decorating. It’s a room that is meant to have many functions so it needs to be designed to be very flexible.
I don’t want to spoil the entire thing before the room reveal later, but I thought it was time to share a little of this space, since it’s the furthest along.
I pulled the antique stained glass window from my dining area and moved it to the egress window below. I LOVE it! This simple basement window turned into a light show! It’s a unique decoration, that has added an inimitable warmth and liveliness to this space. Plus, it’s thick panes of glass block the unattractive egress well to the yard and it ends up providing a lot of privacy on both sides.

So, that’s where I am for now.
As always, you know I love hearing your thoughts in the comment section below. I owe YOU guys a huge thank you for sticking with me and following along, even though this basement project is still in progress. I so appreciate your patience with me as I continue to tackle this massive project.
I am so, so grateful for your support!
XO,
Melessa

April 26, 2020 at 4:57 pmI was so excited to read this post! It is a treat for the eyes. I love what you have done—especially the accent wall! I am so envious of the time you have to beautify your home. I mopped the floors and trimmed some wild grass outside today. It was a treat to get at least a few productive tasks completed!
