I’ve run into a bump in the road with design plans for my basement bathroom. Turns out the shower base I wanted is much more complicated to install than I expected. So, I’m rethinking the bathroom layout and would love your help on which design you like best.
So, I wanted to do a shower ledge and base similar to this look below (with different tiles), but it’s like an additional $1,800 – $2,000 to make a custom shower base that involves building a custom pitch with poured concrete. YIKES! That’s a ton of money to put into a little section of a basement bathroom, so I’m rethinking my design and installing a traditional shower pan that costs $300 instead. Talk about a big difference in costs!
Because the shower pan is made of a high gloss acrylic, I’m not so sure it’s going to look great, material wise, next to the marble tile I picked out for the floor. We’ll see. I’m going to compare the quality tomorrow when I see the materials side-by-side in person.
Here’s the shower pan I’m looking at. There are other options I’m looking at too, but these seem to be the best bang for my buck at the moment.

In the meantime, here are some additional options for my bathroom floor that work better with the shower pan.

I left the original Plan A idea in there just in case the shower pan coordinates with that tile.
Which plan option do you vote for? I’d love to hear your opinion!
XOXO

May 1, 2019 at 10:16 amI love these tiles but down the road won’t it be too outdated like pink, green, or blue of the 50’s etc.? I don’t know about everyone else but I can’t afford to change my tile all the time to go with the style that happens to be trending in that day. I’m a believer in staying with the classics that really never go away.
