We Are Getting Closer…

The basement is getting really close I can almost taste it! My builder says he’ll be done by Wednesday then the rest is on me.

My brother and his family are coming in town for a long weekend, so it’s a mad dash to make the basement somewhat livable. I finished most of the spackling and caulking. I just started priming and sanding. Check out my amazing Marie Antoinette look! Doing all this was a reminder of how out-of-shape I am! Yikes! Man am I sore after doing 850 square feet.

The flooring is a quarter of the way in and it’s looking fabulous.

The bathroom tile is halfway done. Loving that too!

My main level is a nightmare and holy crap I have a ton of cleaning to do, plus my day job projects before my brother arrives this Thursday.

They have an exchange student that’s been living with them that will also be visiting. She’s from Spain, so it will be fun to meet her. I’ve heard nothing but fabulous things about her. Get this, she’s 15 years old, she speaks 4 languages and is an accomplished pianist. Amazing! So, of course I had to make sure my piano was tuned so she can play for us.

My husband has finals this week, too. I mean why not, right?!? It’s really bananas around my house…

The built-in is looking beautiful!

A bunch of my basement furniture is being held in stores and upstairs, but it’s all ready to go!

I think I’m going to set up some of the furniture before I paint so I can put color samples up. I still haven’t decided on paint colors and I only want to paint 850 square feet once, ya know what I mean?! 😉

So, long story short, I’m feeling great about it! AND really ready to be DONE with the construction side!

I’m not going to post on Friday this week so I’ll have more updates next Tuesday.
