I know, we all love to paint old accent pieces fun colors, and believe me, I have, but there’s something about natural wood finishes that can make a room feel really calm and cozy. You don’t need to go bananas and have it everywhere, but touches of slightly, undone, organic natural wood can bring both modern and traditional combinations that can really make a statement.
Wood is making a HUGE comeback, so don’t be so quick to paint it away. There’s so much you can do with natural wood finishes. Whether it’s contrasted with finished accents, or paired with raw materials and pieces, it’s so versatile and classic.
As you know, I stripped my kitchen table down to it’s raw finish and now my table stands as a statement piece. It’s not overbearing, nor does it feel dated. It pops off the dark floor and pulls you in to gather around it. The juxtaposition of the metallic stainless steel, welded legs and the natural wood makes it feel like an art piece.

How would you use natural wood in your home?
