I’m doing a little updating project in a powder room for a client. It’s all about a bold pattern and bright accent colors.
My client isn’t interested in a major renovation, but she does want her bathroom to have a fun new look. She isn’t afraid of pattern or color, so it was a no brainer to encourage her to take a risk with a little wallpaper.
BEFORE

Powder Rooms are the best places to experiment with wallpaper. You can be as subtle or as loud as you want. For my client, we went a little on the loud side. It made me squeal like a little girl when she said that was okay to do it.

No new sinks, faucets, lights or mirror. We aren’t buying a bunch of new items. We are going to be using a lot of what she already has. So don’t ever feel like you have to completely remove everything from your bathroom to make it feel new. If it’s in good condition, reuse it or DIY it, don’t be so quick to pitch it, just yet.

To keep things as simple as possible, we are using a peel and stick wallpaper and it goes on pretty well. Wallpapering isn’t my favorite DIY (nor was it my client’s fave) but I have to say I think it’s still worth it. Because houses aren’t built perfectly square, wallpapering on walls that aren’t exactly straight does add more time to the project. It’s a slow and detailed project you shouldn’t try to rush. When you take your time and measure well, you’ll end up with a fabulous space.

New art will added to this room, maybe even a Sweet Reminder… 😉
I don’t care what room you’re in, a little greenery goes a long way, so a plant will be added for lively texture and a touch of comfort.
The floors and trim will stay as they are, so I want a rug that will stand out strong against her flooring.
We’ll be repainting her mirror, too, but I’ll save more on that for the reveal!
We are on to the decorating faze now. Keep a look out for Part 2. There’s more to come!
XO,
Melessa
