Happy Friday! I’ve got a really fun before and after of a bathroom to show you. I wanted to post this back in April, but COVID put a stop to that for a while. This bathroom is both modern and eclectic. It’s also the most narrow bathroom I’ve ever seen and worked on. Taking photos in a narrow space has its challenges, too. Keep scrolling to see the huge transformation.
My client’s original bathroom was dark and desperate for a bigger shower, more lighting, and storage. The thick stucco walls needed to come down and a new vertical texture needed to go up on the very long sidewall. The old small tile needs to shift to a larger format to make the floor look bigger and wider.
BEFORE

Here’s the AFTER

Oh my goodness! It’s so much more open, relaxing, and bright. The shower before was tiny and cramped. Now it’s much wider and breathable in there. My client mentioned that when the bathroom was completed, her family all wanted to use it. I even wanted to use it! 😉
The objective of this space was to make it soft, natural, and light. My client LOVES a good navy, so we used it as a smaller accent statement versus using it in larger sections.

To avoid having commitment issues with metal finishes, I mixed it up with brass, gold, and chrome. It worked very well with her eclectic and slightly bohemian space.

The art and accent rug help connect those pops of color. My client didn’t mind abstract pieces, so I kept them relatively simple which added visual movement that helps liven up that corner of the bathroom.

Plants (either real or faux) always bring another layer of brightness, texture, and life into a room. It’s the physical effect of greenery that is essential.

The other art (by her doorway) I picked out was a simple botanical that is not only soothing to look at, but it also carries that plant-like organic feel over to this section of the room and balances out the two sections of the bathroom.

The longwall along the right side we decided to leave practically bare, so you could enjoy the clean simplicity of the textured wall. Only two minimalist hooks and a brass modern sconce rest on that side which help introduce and enhance that vertical detail.

It has a spa-like feel that makes you want to jump right in there!
I’m so pleased with how the room was transformed. I love it and more importantly, my client and her family love it!

Heads up! Next week I’ll be out so my next post will be on 9/4/20.
Stay well, everyone!
