This Little Piggy Went To Market

I can’t believe I didn’t post about this little cutie way, way earlier. Who doesn’t love bacon?! So many people eat bacon all year round, but there’s a big problem with how people dispose of the bacon grease after the bacon has been devoured. You wouldn’t believe how many people still pour bacon grease down their drains. That’s a big no, no, people! It not only clogs your drains, even worse it builds up in sewers all over the country and forms big fatbergs – enormous solid masses of oil, grease, wet wipes and other hygiene products that congeal together to cause major blockages. Yep that’s really happening in our sewers. So, I got to work trying to come up with a functional and whimsy way to solve this problem.

Meet the Bacon Bin. This handy little guy is something I designed through Talisman Designs that’s been getting a lot of buzz this year. Isn’t he cute?

The Bacon Bin has 4 functions:

  1. It holds your bacon grease.
  2. It filters the bacon bits from the grease.
  3. It stores the grease for weeks of reuse.
  4. It’s easy to freeze and dispose of the grease into your garbage bin with no mess.

Nate and I have no shame in admitting we reuse a little of our bacon grease from time to time. I mean, have you ever had fried eggs or hash browns with a little bacon grease? Holy moly… it’s amazing!!

Anyway this is a fun little multi-use item that looks way better than an old metal soup can sitting next to your stove.

The folks from the Today Show liked it and aired it on their show! Get this, even Hoda Kotb (co-host of TODAY) said, “That’s so smart!”  Thanks Hoda!

Click on this link to see for yourself!

The next time you’re “Achin’ for some bacon,” don’t forget about this little guy!

Order a Bacon Bin here!

XOXO

Melessa

This is brilliant! We would use this all the time!! We always save our bacon grease and use it again but unfortunately bacon grease doesn’t look very appealing in a mug sitting in the fridge. It would be a lot more fun in one of your piggies!

I’m with you! Bacon grease sitting in a can or mug on the countertop is pretty unappealing.

I just had a little bowl of bacon grease sitting on my counter for like a week! This would be a way better option!

We are all guilty of old bacon grease just sitting on our counters.
