This little home office space has seen some really fun transformations. My client was open to an edgy design, so I went for it and did a huge string wall installation. It turned out pretty cool! Check out this before and after!
This office had to function in multiple ways. It was a working office designed for web conferences, a family council room, a place to workout, a space to relax and refresh, a place for inspiration… oh, and a place for snacks (and cold/hot drinks). It was a lot to pack into a limited space, but we figured it out and the room functions well without feeling too busy or cluttered.
Here’s the BEFORE…

When I started on the project the carpet was already pulled out and hardwood flooring was installed. One of the walls was already painted a deep navy, which I thought looked really great, so I told them to keep it and I started working from there.
The shift from before to after was pretty dramatic.
Here’s the AFTER…

What I enjoyed most about this project was the love that my client has for his grandfather. He really wanted to incorporate items into the space that reminded him of his grandfather and honored his grandfather’s memory.

I specifically chose these colors for my client to compliment his energy, work ethic and creative personality. He’s a forward thinker, very extroverted and confident. The brighter blues and greens are meant to inspire and reflect his energy and drive.
It was very important that my client have an adjustable standing desk. These desks can be very costly, so we found a reasonably priced base and my client built the top with some help from his brother-in-law.

Everything about this room is deliberate and ergonomic. I purposely chose an office chair that could be used in multiple ways. My client is on the move all the time. Sometimes he sits. Sometimes he stands. Sometimes he likes to sit in the chair backwards or even kneel on the chair, so we found a multi-functional product that met all of those needs.

Even the string wall has a purpose! My client has multiple video conference calls throughout the day and it was important that nothing was reflective or loud behind him to cause a distraction. After a number of concepts, the string design was the most cost effective and it was subtle, with no reflection, but still added some personality and color to the space. It was a success!

The string art, framed graphic design art and painting I did custom just for this project. The framed art was inspired by one of his Grandfather’s sayings, “If you can read you can do anything.” So true!

I love how personal this room is. It’s customized specifically for my client and how he works, flows and processes. The colors are uplifting and motivating. The room is fresh, organized and comfortable. I loved all of the thought that went into creating this space. The collection of modern furniture and custom designs compliment my client’s treasured heirlooms. Together they communicate a feeling of courage, determination and growth mindset. What more could you ask for from a home office?!? 🙂
Next Tuesday I’ll share where you can buy this look!
Happy Friday!
