A few months ago I was over at my friend Karla’s house helping her paint her stone fireplace. While I was there we were chatting about what changes she could make to some of her larger furniture pieces in her dining area. Well… here’s one of the pieces she just refinished and I have to say, it turned out so cute!
I really can’t take any credit for this, I just mentioned Black Magic from Sherwin Williams would be a fabulous choice as a new black finish, she went the extra mile with the Frosted glass panes (from Glass Art) and the awesome B&W stripe removable wall covering, genius Karla! I love the interior!
Here’s the country hutch before it was painted.

Tip: When painting, be sure to go WITH the grain of the wood, not against it, for a more natural look.
Here’s the after!
All freshly painted! Isn’t it so pretty? What a dramatic transformation!

Here’s my favorite part… I’m such a sucker for B&W!

The B&W stripe removable wall covering was the perfect touch! The combo is perfect together!
The hinges were “painted” with Sharpie marker – the ink is translucent so it gave the original antique brass hinges a funky patina that enhanced the coppery bronze handles from Menard’s.

I love the outcome and the simple wreaths with B&W ribbon are just the right amount of detail! It’s a fabulous upgrade for so little cost. Great job Karla!!
