It feels good to be back! I’ve already started painting again in the basement, yay! For our (basement) guest room I thought I’d kick it up a notch with some wallpaper on the ceiling and maybe a stained glass window…

When decorating our homes, for some reason, the ceiling seems to always get neglected. In fact, many of us never address the ceilings — most are white, plain, and just overlooked. Yes, I do this too! But, as I said at the end of last week’s post, 2020 is all about pushing design to new levels and I’m doing just that in my home.

Simply by decorating your ceiling, you can transform your space. Utilizing this fifth wall can make your room feel bigger by drawing your eye upward. Consider this post a challenge to give your ceilings some love, and wallpaper or paint (other than white) is just the way to do it!

Now, I will say, I do have bittersweet feelings over wallpaper. Our previous house in Minneapolis was built in 1896 and was filled head to toe with wallpaper and it was MISERABLE removing it. So that said, because it’s the ceiling and I will be the one applying it and removing it, down the road, I’m looking at peel and stick wallpaper. It’s way, way easier! I’ve worked with it before and I LOVE it!

I will admit the options for removable wallpaper are limited and can be a little more expensive, but not too bad. I have been able to build a folder on my desktop full off fun options for my guest room.

Honestly, this room is more than a guest room, it also functions as a playroom for the boys as well as a workout room. So, it’s doing a lot of things in a little space. That said, it also needs to feel fun, relaxing and still look pretty.
So, enough chatting, below are a handful of removable wallpaper options that I’m thinking about for our guest room/transitional room.

I really can’t decide yet which one I love the most. I want it to live there for a while, so I’m trying to decide which one feels the most classic while still being fun and stylish.
Which one’s your favorite? I want to know!!
XO,
Melessa
